Tribunal Sacks Rivers State Governor Wike

The Rivers State Election Petition Tribunal has sacked Nyesom Wike as the Governor of Rivers State.

The tribunal, which delivered its ruling in Abuja on Saturday, also ordered that a fresh governorship election be conducted in the state.

The petition challenging the election of Mr. Wike as Rivers State Governor was filed by Dakuku Peterside, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the election.

The Rivers governorship election, which was criticised by local and international observers, witnessed the largest amount of violence both in its build-up and after the elections.Read More

Police Nab Disabled 71-Year-Old Man For defiling Primary Six Pupil In Ogun

It was learnt that the victim, who resides with her grandmother in Ago-Alagbede in the Agbado area of the State, fled home last Tuesday in order to escape being punished by her uncle for unruly behaviour. Odiwe was alleged to have taken the 12-year-old in at his resident at Atila, a neighbouring community, where he allegedly defiled her.

Odiwe who had been staying with his younger brother, who is a tenant to the victim’s grandmother was sent packing in 2013 following a discovery that he was allegedly assaulting female children in the community sexually.

SHOCKING!!: Port Harcourt International Airport Ranked Worst In The World

Port Harcourt International Airport has been ranked as the worst airport in the world by SleepingInAirports, a website that reviews the best and worst airports in the world.

The airport was one of the five approved for remodeling by the Federal Government in 2010 in a project that was reported to cost N90 billion. When, then Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi alleged in 2013 that the FG had abandoned the project, Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) General Manager Corporate Communictions, Yakubu Dati denied, saying 90 percent of the entire job had been completed.

However, SleepingInAirports 2015 Airport Survey showed Port Harcourt International Airport to be the world’s worst.

Every year, SleepingInAirports conducts a survey asking travellers to rate their airport experiences based on the services and facilities available within the terminal, cleanliness, customer service, comfort and their overall airport experience.

“Those that top our charts for worst airports in the world collected the most negative feedback from voters over the past year. These airports fall flat in terms of providing any kind of enjoyable overall airport experience. Instead, they’re dirty, uncomfortable, unfriendly and lack the most basic of services and amenities. They elicit passionate critiques from those who visit them, and countless warnings for future travellers to avoid these places at all costs,” SleepingInAirports said on its website.

Voters suggested that apart from being the worst airport in the world, Port Harcourt Airport should also win the title of most corrupt airport in the world.

“The terminal’s unpleasant and unhelpful staff help to earn it this trifecta of atrocious awards. With virtually no seating, broken air-conditioning and a tent for an Arrivals Hall, it was a struggle for many voters to pass the minimum required amount of time here. The good news is that some areas of the terminal have been recently renovated, meaning you can expect actual walls, floors and windows. Though it is a far cry from reasonable, improvements are being made,” SleepinInAirports noted.

The Connecticut Post reports that New York City resident Jennifer Connell says the Westport boy acted unreasonably when he leaped into her arms at his eighth-birthday party.

She says he caused her to fall to the ground and break her wrist. She is asking a six-member Superior Court jury to find the boy liable. A listed phone number couldn’t be found for the youngster’s father.
